Municipality of Tagana-an, Surigao del Norte was hailed second in the over-all ranking of the Most Competitive 5th to 6th Class Municipality in the country during the recently concluded 2020 Cities and Municipalities Competitiveness Index (CMCI) conducted by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI). The municipality also won awards as second in the Economic Dynamism Pillar and seventh in the Government Efficiency Pillar among 273 entries.
Meanwhile, three other municipalities in the province bagged awards wherein General Luna placed first, Bacuag placed third, and San Francisco placed seventh in Most improved 5th to 6th class municipalities.
CMCI is an annual ranking of cities and municipalities in the country based on the sum of the scores on 4 Pillars namely: Economic Dynamism, Government Efficiency, Infrastructure, and Resiliency.
The awards were conferred last December 16, 2020 via zoom application.
