The Local Government Unit – Tagana-an thru the Municipal Agriculture Office headed by the Municipal Agriculturist, Myra Messaiah C. Estobo in coordination with the Provincial Agriculture Office and the Department of Agriculture – Caraga had successfully distributed fertilizer vouchers to the rice farmers of the municipality.   Said activity was conducted on March 11, 2021 under Rice Resiliency Project II of the Department of Agriculture (DA).

According to DA Secretary William Dar, RRP II is part of the Plant Plant Plant Program of the DA which aims to increase and boost the local rice production to ensure enough food supply for all Filipinos amidst the Covid-19 pandemic and beyond.

Under the RRP II, a total of 169 farmer beneficiaries have received fertilizer voucher which can be claimed from accredited suppliers in Surigao City.  P2,000 worth of voucher is equivalent to two bags of Urea (46-0-0) fertilizer for every hectare of rice land.  Each farmer will receive an amount equivalent to the number of bags of Urea depending on the area planted with rice. During the distribution, strict health protocols were implemented, thanks to the cooperation of the farmer beneficiaries.
